This is Malachi (looking at us) and his lover Jazreal (being held).
Malachi is a 400+ year old vampire and Jazreal is a non-corporeal life form, forced into a corporeal body by an immortal Sorcerer.
I have had the story for these two banging about in my head for years and recently (pretty much since first discovering Y!Gallery) I've been contemplating turning it in a BL comic.
Keep an eye out for that.
Anyway - the image doesn't really mean anything - I was mildly depressed while drawing it though, so read into it what you will. I plan on this being a poster/cover-art for the comic.
On DA - I will very likely sell prints of the finished colour version.
A vampire in love with an angel? Intriquing ... Could be really good, depending on how it is done.
As for the sorcerer ... it seems to me that the act of embodying something that perhaps ought not to be embodied would be more the act of a IMMORAL sorcerer, not an immortal one. Is that what you meant?

no - he is immortal - and he's enslaving the non-corporeals into bodies of his own chosing, so he can use them as slaves. He is dafinately a bit of a bastard. The story follows Mal as Jaz is sent to scare him into line with the sorcerers orders - instead, Mal and Jaz fall for each other and then have a hell of a time trying to get rid of the sorerer so they can be together.

Okay, so he's BOTH immortal and immoral! somehow the two often seem to go together ...
On the other hand, if he's really immortal and can't be killed, the best they can hope for is hiding from him ... endless story posssibilities there, but kind of sad ... on the other hand, what else can you expect but "doomed, tragic lovers" with a vampire and an angel?
Now I'm even more intrigued!

Gah, I think you win the detail tard award after all. O_O I love that you kept the cover of leaves and flowers even enough to make it feel like a tapestry. It has a classic feel to it, and goodness, but it's sexy. <3
I think the arm of the lovely winged fellow is too short. I can't tell if you meant to foreshorten it or not, because it would make more sense with the placement of the wing to have the arm come towards the viewer a bit. If you overlapped the muscles of the arm you'd get the effect, anyways.

>.< I've got nothing interesting or witty to say.
y'know, I honestly hadn't thought of the tapestry angle o0 makes sense now that you mention it though.
I admit, I fought with that arm! It never looked right, not once - but I finally settled on telling myself that it was because his shoulder was 'up' because Mal is holding his wieght. You're right though, it probably is too short still o0
Unfortunately, I drew this all by hand in trad media! So I can't fix it! oo;

Don't think this is just another news article with the usual love deviations that have already hundreds of favorites! All of these deviations don't have even 100 favorites & they're the best!
